DOA is a movie that most certainly fits in the grindhouse cinemas of times square circa 1982. It is horribly written yet completely entertaining, filled with bad martial arts and scantily clad hard bodies fighting in the rain. Tarantino would love this one, as its not often a genre film of this caliber is made anymore.
In a time before internet porn the grindhouse movies of the seventies and eighties satisfied every 13 year old boys need for pointless sex and violence. The story was as simple as could be and most times completely ridiculous. DOA fits all these requirements. Following in the footsteps of every other crappy Enter the Dragon rip off, DOA is centered around a martial arts tournament on a privately owned island. (more…)

Sad news today as child star Gary Colman died of an inter-cranial Brain Hemorrhage. Sometimes it seems like life just had it out for Coleman who was born with a congenital kidney disease (focal segmental glomerulosclerosis), that stunted his growth but ironically also made him the perfect sitcom child. He is best known for his role of spunky orphan Arnold Drummond on the show Different Strokes (Which is ironic because that’s close to what killed him) [eeeeh too soon?].
