Almost midnight. Enough time for one more story. One more story before just to keep us warm.
In five minutes, it’ll be the 21st of April.
One hundred years ago on the 21st of April, out in the waters around Spivey Point, a small clipper ship drew toward land. Suddenly, out of the night, The Fog rolled in.
For a moment, they could see nothing, not a foot ahead of them. And then, they saw a light.
My God, it was a fire burning on the shore. Strong enough to penetrate the swirling mist. They steered a course toward the light. But it was a campfire, like this one.
The ship crashed against the rocks. The hull sheared in two. The mast snapped like a twig. And the wreckage sank with all the men aboard.
At the bottom of the sea lay the Elizabeth Dane with her crew, their lungs filled with saltwater, their eyes open and staring into the darkness. And above, as suddenly as it had come, The Fog lifted, receded back across the ocean and never came again. (more…)

Secret FBI files have been released detailing how US officials saw a UFO explode over Utah – and aliens land near Roswell in New Mexico.
“An investigator for the Air Force stated that three so-called flying saucers had been recovered in New Mexico. They were described as being circular in shape with raised centers, approximately 50 feet in diameter. Each one was occupied by three bodies of human shape but only three feet tall, dressed in metallic cloth of a very fine texture. Each body was bandaged in a manner similar to the blackout suits used by speed flyers and test pilots.
According to Mr. (redacted) informant, the saucers were found in New Mexico due to the fact that the Government has a very high-powered radar set-up in that area and it is believed the radar interferes with the controlling mechanism of the saucers. No further evaluation was attempted by SA (redacted) concerning the above.”

Piano Hero – Metal Edition

Jon recently subjected us all to a SHUN THE HELL OUT OF IT version of Metallica’s One. After trying to recover from the less than spectacular vocals, I stumbled upon a pianist from the Ukraine. And I must say, Viktoriya Yermolyeva is far from weak. (Vika, please excuse my Seinfeld reference.) Vika started playing the piano at the age of 4 and has since made a career of it after graduating from such schools as The National P. Tchaikovsky Music Academy of the Ukraine and The Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Weimar. Vika’s full bio can be found at her website.
So why am I posting this here on Skubu? Well, like much of our demographic, Vika “really loves metal and rock and industrial.” And what do you get when you combine a classically trained pianst with a metal fan? Some kick ass covers. Vika’s youtube catalog of over 400 videos blasts you with covers from such artists as Metallica, Deftones, Nine Inch Nails, KORN, System of a Down, Nirvana, The Ramones, Pink Floyd and….wait for it…..yes, SLAYER, just to name a few.
