Forgotten Classics Review: The Resurrected

Remember when B movies were entertaining, filled with real actors and took subject matter from classic books? The Resurrected is one of these fantastic forgotten classics. Based on H.P Lovecraft’s “The Case of Charles Dexter Ward” The Resurrected is a good old monster mystery movie. Hollywood continues to remake movies that were fantastic the first time around, however I think they should look more into retelling great story based movies like this that were overlooked.

The Resurrected follows Claire Ward who hires private investigator John Marsh to look into the increasingly bizarre activities of her husband Charles Dexter Ward. Ward has shut himself in his century old cabin and become obsessed with the occult practices of raising the dead. As the investigators dig deeper, they discover that Ward is performing a series of grisly experiments in an effort to actually resurrect his long-dead relative Curwen. (more…)

I’ve been a life long nerd-I practically had a game controller wire for an umbilical cord. A couple of years ago, I found out about anime and gaming conventions and I saw people dress up as their favorite fictional characters. I fell in love instantly and I knew I HAD to be apart of this crowd. Besides Cosplay, I’m more known for loving the most sick, twisted, disgusting movies known(and unknown) to man. SkullBunnie’s Forgotten Classics: Prince of Darkness

Prince of Darkness is one of John Carpenters movies that gets looked over quite often and in fact most people haven’t even heard of this one; I personally think that is a crime. Carpenter is my favorite Horror/Sci Fi director from the 70′s/80′s and I feel one of the most original horror directors of our time. Today’s horror just doesn’t have the panache of a good Carpenter film, and I’ve always liked that a good portion of his movies revolve around older adults and not idiotic teenagers (Halloween obviously excluded). Prince of Darkness is no exception.

The Plot goes something like this; A priest (Donald Pleasence) invites Professor Howard Birack (Victor Wong) and a group of academics to investigate a mysterious cylinder in the basement of an abandoned church. The Cylinder seems to be a green pre-biotic fluid that is rapidly spinning into existence.

After researching the text found next to the cylinder, it is thought to be the son of an even more powerful force of evil, an Anti-God, who is trapped in another dimension. The liquid itself appears sentient, producing increasingly complex data that is revealed by computer decoding to include differential equations. (more…)

Cancelling Halloween in Schools is PC BULLSHIT!!!

Public schools across the country are cancelling Halloween celebrations over issues ranging from candy corn to concerns that Americans are forcing their holiday traditions on new immigrants and many parents are angered by what they are calling political correctness.

The principal at Buckman Elementary School in Portland, OR recently banned costumes at his school, calling instead for boys and girls to embrace a “spirit of equity.”

“For many reasons, the celebration of Halloween at school can lead to student exclusion,” Principal Brian Anderson wrote in a letter to parents. “There are social, financial and cultural differences among our families that we must respect.”

Anderson wrote that the “spirit of equity” has led most public schools in the city to “deemphasize the celebration of Halloween at school.”

The outrage among parents was profound and prompted a story in the Portland Mercurcy.

Anderson told the newspaper that any child who shows up to school with a costume will be required to change clothes. He defended his ban saying that Halloween at school excludes children. (more…)
