Xbox Live on the go For Iphone

This week Microsoft launched its most impressive and streamlined Xbox Live system to date, finally bringing the original vision of the Xbox experience into view. The update includes full Kinect compatibility and a redesign that mimics the new Windows 8 tile based operating system. Many may have already experienced this OS on the Windows 7 phone or first with the Zune (R.I.P). As the newest Microsoft products are released it seems as if they are finally smoothing out the edges and forming a streamlined integrated social experience that can seamlessly interact in the cloud between all devices with one functional operating system.

Along with this redesign of style and substance, Xbox live branches out to Apple products with the MY XBOX LIVE app which allows one to access and edit their live features on the go without having to have a Windows 7 phone. You still cant play your live games via this app but it can’t be far off in my opinion.

Upon Starting the app you sign in with your ID and you are brought to the mobile version of your live homepage. As you can see it is almost identical in style and function to your home live page. You are able to watch all the same featurettes in the spotlight, check your mail, and edit your settings all from this mobile homepage. (more…)

Top Tens of 2011: Best TV Shows

Dexter:
The New Season of Dexter has managed to keep the premise fresh, and has even had a mid-season twist that I for one did not see coming. With great guest stars such as Mos Def, Colin Hanks, and Edward James Olmos it would be hard for the season to be any better. Dexter is pulled in different existential directions by new influences that mirror the pull of religion…both good and evil. Hanks and Olmos play Revelation obsessed religious fanatics who look to bring about the end of the world through a series of murders. I can’t say much more without giving away the story so go watch it from the beginning….oh and this season you will want to watch a second time…

Prime Suspect:
NBC put a lot of advertising power before the premier of this show (commercials which i personally hated and which gave no sense of what the show actually is) but didn’t seem to make a dent. Essentially if you like Law and Order and shows like Homicide: Life on the Street you will like Prime suspect. It’s the same old same old hardened NY Police Detective show, but its well written and acted and is definitely entertaining so you can forgive the clichés. (more…)

Top Tens of 2011: Worst Movies

Its that time of year again, where I like to count down what I consider to be the shittiest of the shitty to have leaked out of Hollywood this year. There were a lot of bad movies this year…not nearly as many as last year but oh  there was  still a steady stream of unimaginative diarrhea to round out the year. We had everything from the trite comedy homage films, to the blatant coat tail riding rip off films; and I widdled this list down to the worst ten released this year. without further ado I would like to present the SkullBunnie Cage-y awards to the following  10 worst films of 2011

10.Hobo with a Shotgun: What a shattering disappointment this was. Another movie born of a fake trailer in Grindhouse; Hobo with a Shotgun looked to have a lot of potential. Unfortunately rather than capturing the entertaining style of John Carpenter like Robert Rodriguez was able to do, Jason Eisener seemed to mimic the worst of the worst Troma films of the early eighties. Ordinarily I love this type of cinematic homage however, Hobo was less of an Homage and more of an actual bad movie straight out of the eighties. So I guess in many ways it could be considered a success. .. just not in my book. (more…)

SPOILER ALERT:

Earth. Year 2058.

Archaeological digs in Africa reveal alien artifacts that humans were genetically engineered by a advanced alien race (space jockeys). These “Alien Gods” also terraformed Earth in order to make it habitable for their human creations. Amongst finds are coordinates to the Alien God’s home-world, to Paradise. Months later the Weyland Corp launch the spaceship PROMETHEUS and his crew, into deep space to make first contact. Thanks to faster than light travel a few years later the PROMETHEUS enters the Zeta Riticuli star system. Humans are greeted by their makers, then transported further into space to a scary yet fascinating world. The Alien Gods are proud of their “children”, their first creation to reach such levels of intelligence.

As a reward they share bits of their astonishing bio-based technologies with the humans. But for one crew member of the Prometheus it’s not enough. In a treacherous act he steals the “bio-source code” to Terraforming, a technology at the origin of all Gods’ power, that could make humans equal to the gods. The Alien Gods may be scientists but are also ruthless conquerors, destroyers of worlds who will not accept humans as equals. They unleash on the escaping human crew their favorite bio-weapon, a creature used to “clean up” worlds before colonization. But something goes wrong in the process and humans manage to turn the bio-weapon against their makers. Giving birth to a smarter, nastier, bigger breed of gut eating creatures. Creatures that will be the demise of Paradise. What’s left of the Prometheus crew manages to escape the doomed planet.

On their trail a survivor Alien God in very familiar ship with one ultimate mission.

Bring the wrath of the Gods to Earth. Continue ahead to see 6 Hi res Images from Prometheus
