Time for the first annual SKULLIE awards folks!! This is an extremely nerdy undertaking and you will choose the winners. I tried to come up with a few more random categories than your average Awards nomination and not all of you will even know what to choose. If you have a suggestion that isn’t in the choices…I don’t care. If you feel you must make your unlisted choice known you can put it in the comments section….doesn’t mean I’ll listen.

Anyhow, Go Ahead and put in your two cents for who you’d like for Best FPS of 2010, Most Disapointing TV Series of 2010, Worst Comic Book Movie Decision of 2010 and more. Continue on to fill out your ballot!

< CONDITIONS FEATURED IN AP/HOT TOPIC MINI MAG, NEW TRACK “WHEN IT WON’T SAVE YOU” INCLUDED ON MAG SAMPLER

PRE-ORDER FLUORESCENT YOUTH CD/T-SHIRT BUNDLE NOW! NEW FALL TOUR DATES COMING SOON!

CONDITIONS have sold over 16,000 digital songs and over 3,000 CDs on their own as independent artists. They have shared stages in the US and Europe with the likes of Paramore, New Found Glory, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, and Good Charlotte. They have earned themselves spots on the Vans Warped Tour, Taste of Chaos, Bamboozle Festival, and SXSW Music Conference. Their commanding stage presence and airtight musicianship during live performances emits a vibrant and impassioned spirit. It is this rare mix of charisma and chops that has allowed CONDITIONS to amass a loyal and supportive fan base from swooning teen pop fans to discerning older rock fans. Those fans purchased 4,000 songs off of their You Are Forgotten EP in the first month of its release. It is exactly that type of zealous fan reaction that has caught the eye of media outlets nationwide. Alternative Press Magazine recently proclaimed the band as one of their “100 bands you need to know in 2010″.

RUSH is Back

Finally the masters of nerd rock have returned from hiatus with two new singles from their forthcoming album Caravan. The Album is not set to release until next year which makes these two random singles a bit of a surprise. Members had mentioned that when they returned from their personal time after the Snakes and Arrows tour that they would be trying something a bit different than usual. Always known for experimentation (just listen to Roll The Bones for a not so good example of Rap) Rush could be attempting to release an album of purely singles as opposed to a complete 12 song disc. I would have absolutely no problem with this as it is the direction music is headed, not to mention every small release garners the same excitement of a full album, leading to better sales and so on. Autumn is imminent and with the falling leaves one needs the proper soundtrack to usher in the twilight of the year. Releasing September 14th Death Angel’s Relentless Retribution drops and brings with it a heavy dose of old school thrash metal. If you miss the days when Metallica had hair and alcohol problems, people weren’t afraid of Anthrax, and Dave Mustaine wasn’t a born again christian Relentless Retribution is for you.

For the most part I tend to veer towards genre metal that the masses don’t listen to, but this album is definitely safe for the some time metal head just as well as the hardcore headbanger. Death Angel has been around since 82 and age has only made them better. Relentless Retribution is SkullBunnie approved! Continue on to see a track listing. (more…)

I was amazed by the progress of robotics in America this morning when I turned on the TV and heard one of the many popular songs by the “artist” known as
Ke-dollar-sign-ha….strange name, but I guess no stranger than C3P0.  Anyway my mind was completely blown, as for the first time I was hearing an entirely synthesized human voice produced by what was clearly a Japanese sex droid.

How had robotics come this far? I mean don’t get me wrong the vocals were by no means good, but they were passable for a 3rd grade talent show and had a surprisingly melodic range for a synthetic vocalization. With a little more tuning I think the Ke$ha’s vocal modulator could sound almost 80% as accurate as the big blue squid lady from The Fifth Element (yes I know the characters name is Plava Laguna, but I assumed that you are not as big of a dork as I am.)

My only issue with Ke$3pO is that they haven’t managed to deactivate her drunken party slut simulator from her earlier days of  kicking elderly Japanese men in the nuts for 200 yen a pop. It really has nothing to do with the image she’s portraying for little  girls, but if you’re going to be trashy and slutty at least do it well. Look at Porn stars, they’re what I like to call Class Trashy (well most of the good ones). Ke$h-800′s emulator unfortunately only simulates the Hanger; You know the overly drunk chick willing to sleep with anything for another shot of vanilla Stoli, and is desperately hanging on to her annoyed last option trying to close the deal before the bar closes? LOS ANGELES-  For as long as modern society has existed the young have rebelled from the generation before them by drastically changing their style, and adopting ridiculous fashions. In years previous, we’ve had baggy pants, tight rolled jeans, neon shirts, polo shirts with popped collars,  but none are more disturbing than the current obsession our young men have with aging star of stage and screen Liza Minnelli.

It seems that overnight young boys around the country have begun to show their love of Liza by mimicking her trademark quaff, and wearing lovingly altered jeans that are almost too tight to fit into. Who alters these super skinny jeans? Why the boys themselves of course. One home economics teacher in Anaheim worries of  “and outbreak of pederasty” due to the pseudo transvestite-ism of the fad and has discontinued sewing classes in his curriculum to no avail. With the internet young boys are able to find instructions on how to sew and no amount of sheltering can stop them from participating. (more…)

Metal Hammer Rules

There are times I have to wonder why Europe seems so much more metal friendly than the U.S. As many issues as I do have with our great country I stand by the fact that America is still the greatest country on earth,  except in the category of Metal. Why do I have to go to a Barnes and Noble, and Pay 10 bucks to get a decent metal magazine from Europe. Sure Revolver is okay, but most of the metal mags in this  country can’t or just plain don’t distinguish between Emo crap-rock and Black Metal. (more…)

I had the pleasure of meeting with two of the coolest most laid back guys in metal, Blake Bunzel and Jeff Fabb of In this Moment. In this moment is a self made band who through social networking and tireless touring have garnered themselves a large ever growing following. Now with the release of their newest album  A Star crossed Wasteland and the single The Gun Show, they seem to be taking over the Satellite airwaves with constant rotation on SiriusXM Octane and Liquid Metal.

The thing that caught me slightly off guard is how much fun every member of the band looked like they were having on stage, and how down to earth and humble they were in person. After talking with Jeff and Blake I would dare anyone not to become a fan. They are obviously just doing what they love and riding the wave to wherever it takes them. I mentioned the fact that they seem to be gaining momentum in the metal scene and they actually seemed surprised and flattered.  Whether they seem to believe it or not, you will be  sure to see numerous imitators in the coming years.
