These days you cant throw a rock without hitting a movie based on a comic book. So far most comic book movies have been based on superheroes, although the occasional lesser known title gets picked up. One cult favorite  from the 90′s that absolutely needs to be made into a movie is S.C.U.D the disposable assassin. SCUD would be difficult to do as a live action feature (unless by Guillermo Del Toro) but as a 3D CGI cartoon this movie would make bank.

Return of the 1980′s in 3D

Posted: 29th January 2010 by Jon in MOVIES

YES its true. It seems the 1980′s have returned minus  Reaganomics and John Hughes.  The movie studios are jumping on the big blue bandwagon that was Avatar, and EVERYTHING must be in glorious mind bending 3D. So far here is the list of movies that have been confirmed to be in 3D this week (I think youll understand the title after reading this)

Gremlins 3, Tron 2, Ghostbusters 3, Halloween 3 (D), Clash of the Titans, Star Wars Episodes 1-6 (keep milkin’ that cow Lucas),Twister 2 (not 100% confirmed), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 1&2, Alice in Wonderland,  Zombiland 2, and Night of the Living Dead 3D.

Honestly the only movie coming out in the next 3 years I have any desire to see in 3D besides Tron 2 is Bioshock. (more…)

Enough Already Friday: Improper Devil Horns

Posted: 29th January 2010 by Jon in NEWS

The Devil Horns, originally a pagan gesture of protection for warding off the evil eye, was adopted by legions of Metal fans, after Ronny James Dio began using it as a means of creating his Black Sabbath persona. Now the devil horns have become the universal symbol of “ROCK ON” and is seen raised at concerts of numerous genres.  This gesture is the all encompassing symbol of cool, so of course it has begun being co-opted by douschbag advertisers, and (more…)

Enough Already Friday: Handicapped Parking

Posted: 29th January 2010 by Jon in NEWS

Seriously if you were to count the amount of handicapped people in every county and subtract from the amount of handicapped parking spaces you would find a disparity of about 3000 extra parking spaces. I went to Walmart last week and the place was packed, but let me tell you there were approximately 30 open handicapped spots with not one car parked in any of them. Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with a place having two or three handicapped spots, but THIRTY! COME ON! Unless you own a wheelchair store is that really necessary? Again I have no problem parking further back and walking, its good exercise but when every spot in a lot is full, and there is not one Handicapped spot taken I think there is a problem. So ENOUGH HANDICAPPED PARKING!

Coo Loo coo coo coocoo coo coo!Strange Brew, The Adventures of Bob & Doug Mckenzie though a bit dated, is  still one of the funniest movies I have the pleasure to say I own.  Almost thirty years ago these guys essentially made a Canadian version of the movie Stepbrothers, and made it better, funnier and for less money (which isnt hard to do, sans the waste of space one hit wonder known as Will Ferrell).

In the late 90′s Bob & Doug Mckenzie saw a resurgence with their very funny Molson Ice and Pizza hut commercials. They also voiced a pair of comedic moose in Disney’s failure Brother Bear. All this attention lead to talk of a long awaited sequel called Home Brew. There is not a whole lot of information to be found about the failed project except speculation based on the name. (more…)

Yesterday Concept art from the forthcoming Green Lantern movie starring Ryan Reynolds was released, featuring one of the lantern universe’s most beloved characters, Kilowog.

Being a Marvel kid I was never into the DC universe (besides Batman), until the Green Lantern Blackest Night series came out a couple of months ago.I never gave the Lantern series a second thought and honestly wondered why any one would read it. Now I wonder why Lantern isnt the most popular series out there. But as I know few people have a grasp on the Lantern  like they do with Spider man or Batman so I’ll Give you a little background. The THING Prequel

It would be  almost impossible to convince me that there is a better sci-fi horror flick made than John Carpenters 1982 film The Thing. The story, acting and effects hold up incredibly well, which is very hard to say of many other movies from this era. Carpenter may be most well known for his groundbreaking hit Halloween, but The Thing is Clearly his masterpiece and out of all his features was the most deserving of a follow up film. It now looks like almost 20 years later the follow up is coming. (more…)
