Today is truly a day of mourning in the world of Metal.  Ronnie James Dio died on Sunday, May 16, 2010 at 7:45 AM after battling stomach cancer, according to an online post by his wife Wendy Dio. He was 67.

Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever. - Wendy Dio

The Man who gave us the Devil horns and who proved that even men under 5 foot 5 could still be huge, has been a vocal legend  for 30 years fronting such bands as Black Sabbath, Rainbow, Heaven and Hell, and of course Dio. The loss of Dio is a great one, and if it were possible metal heads everywhere would be wearing even more black than usual.

Ronnie, your music will live on forever, and hopefully you can raise some Hell into Heaven to make it cooler for everyone who comes after you.  We here at SkullBunnie wish the best for Dio’s family, and salute the bringer of the devil horns. On SkullBunnie.com the third Sunday in May will forever be observed as The Black Sabbath, in memory of  Ronnie James Dio. Wear your Sabbath, Rainbow and Dio shirts proudly, play the Holy Diver Album, and remember the man who kept metal in his heart until the day he died. R.I.P Ronnie James Dio

It’s not often that I hand out the SkullBunnie Seal of approval for an entire album, but today that honor goes to the self titled album from Angel Witch. Formed in 1977 Angel Witch was a band out of London whose lineup’s continual habit of self destruction kept them from ever reaching mainstream success. Their debut album Angel Witch was released in 1980 and went relatively unnoticed, as better known artists like Ozzy Osborne, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath ruled the metal airwaves.

Recently I’ve felt the need to rewind my taste in metal as most new metal seems to be some derivative of Lamb of God or Slipknot. Don’t get me wrong I love both of them, but sometimes I want music that will make me feel like doing something other than tearing peoples arms off and beating them to death with them.  This album reminded me what it was like to feel the need for air guitar, and bang my head without separating my skull from my spinal cord. Hot Metal Chicks Abound!

First off I have to say this game makes me very angry. Angry because Brütal Legend is not a full fledged animated movie…. although it’s not far from it. I want nothing more than to throw it in the DVD player and allow my friends to experience the Glory of Metal. With amazing voice acting, great character design and movie quality animation, coupled with very funny dialogue and a tongue in cheek story, this game is almost more fun to watch  than it is  to play. But what else would you expect of a game from Tim Schafer?

Schafer is best known as the designer of critically acclaimed games Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, Psychonauts,  and co-designer of the early classics The Secret of Monkey Island, Monkey Island 2. He is known in the video game industry for his story-telling and comedy-writing abilities. (more…)
