With the 35th anniversary of A New Hope rapidly approaching, George Lucas officially announced that your eyeballs will be able to drink in all the beauty of the trilogy in glorious high definition. When? No idea. Price? Undisclosed.

The only tidbit of information I can relay is that tragically, Lucas has reported that only the special edition versions of the movies will be released on Blu Ray. The reason? George apparently told the New York Times that it would be too expensive to take the original prints and re-master them in Blu Ray.

A moment, while I get on my trusty soap box please. George Lucas, according to Forbes, is currently worth roughly $3.6 BILLION. I will not begrudge the man this empire, as he’s earned it, and in the process, given to nerddom one of our most treasured gifts and works of Sci-fi lore. I would beg of the man, however that this one time, could we not look past the business logistics of this process for sake of the fans? Bringing the originals into the world of Blu-Ray should instead be considered a labor of love; Lucas’ personal valentine to those of us that have supported his franchise since we left the womb.

But hey, maybe I’m in the wrong. Star Wars is Mr. Lucas’ creation. Perhaps the roof at Skywalker Ranch is leaking. Perhaps George can do what he wants and the fans should shut up and eat what they’re served. I however, would trade every added “unreleased lightsaber battle” in the world just to have the films I remember from my childhood delivered in a higher-quality format.

But that’s just me. Continue ahead to see a cut scene from Return of the Jedi, that shows Luke finishing production of his Green Lightsaber…..just disregard the hooting and hollering nerds.

The much talked about Green Hornet movie finally has a trailer, and from the looks of it, the basics of Kevin Smiths script are still present. That plot line being the irresponsible wild-child rich boy son of the  aged Green Hornet, finds the out about his birthright after the murder of his father. Kato guides him in his quest to save the city from crime, but unfortunately Kato is not the smoking hot Asian chick Smith Intended. Continue on to watch the Trailer. (more…)

I remember the first time I ever saw the Playstation game Resident Evil over at my friend Chris’s house at the meager age of 16. From that moment on my life was changed, Zombies would forever be embedded in my head as my go to form of entertainment. Sony’s exclusive grip on the game was the reason I went to my local Funcoland and purchased my refurbished PlayStation. The years followed with even better sequels which forced me to dish out money for the Nintendo Gamecube, Sega Dreamcast, and X box as the series evolved from system to system.

In 2002 I could barely contain my excitement for the big screen debut of the Resident evil movie. The first ten minutes of the movie was pure resident evil genius, and then the real plot kicked in. WHAT F@#$ing GAME DID PAUL W.S. ANDERSON PLAY WHEN HE WROTE THIS MOVIE? (more…)

OK, so women and little girls have latched onto the myth of the Vampire, and have turned it into a horrible sappy creature whose only purpose in life is to brood, look fashionable and fall in love with underage girls. In honor of the third Twilight movie being released this summer I thought I would point out a few truths to the female fans of Eclipse, and explain the plot line if it were seen through the eyes of a male character.
First off let’s look at Edward. Edward is a 109 year old vampire who is stuck in the body of a 17 year old with a giant forehead and a pigment deficiency. Whether or not he is physically 17 and sparkly, mentally he is 109 years old and has over a century of experience with human beings. I’m 30 and I can barely stand the company of a 22 year old girl (no matter how hot) let alone a 17 year old high school student. I can understand if an undead bloodsucker still has a sex drive why he would obviously go for a 17 year old girl, but if he was looking for an intellectual equal (or even someone who could name a movie made before Harriet the Spy) I think he would aim a little bit older. Hey some guys are able to turn off their brain….good for them, but ladies don’t think for a second Edward is with Bella for her brains (he would then be a zombie {which would be way cooler}). Here direct from our pals at FilmMunkey.com is a short film by Jaysin Osterkamp. The Short is as of yet untitled, but is the result of an arduous day of shooting and effects work to film a commercial for the Aurora Sportsman’s Club. If your interested in more check out my buddy Jay at FilmMunkey…..OH and if you happen to notice the amazing makeup and effects take a look at the credits to see who the supremely talented artist was who created those. Enjoy!

“When there are no more ideas in Hollywood the reboots will walk the earth”.

It seems that another movie has fallen to the reboot god, and will have not one, but two seperate versions. The Three Musketeers has been tapped to be remade and given the ” Sherlock Holmes” treatment. Lionel Wigram, a former Warner creative exec who oversaw the first three “Harry Potter” pics  now has a first-look deal with the studio, has set the project up at Warner Bros…Yay…..I guess! (more…)

Prince of Darkness is one of John Carpenters movies that gets looked over quite often. In fact most people haven’t heard of this one and I personally think that is a crime. Carpenter is my favorite Horror/Sci Fi director from the 70′s/80′s and I feel one of the most original. Today’s horror just doesn’t have the panache of a good carpenter film, and I’ve always liked that a good portion of his movies revolve around older adults and not idiotic teenagers. Prince of Darkness is no exception.

The Plot goes something like this; A priest (Donald Pleasence) invites Professor Howard Birack (Victor Wong) and a group of academics  to investigate a mysterious cylinder in the basement of an abandoned church. The Cylinder seems to be a green pre-biotic fluid that is rapidly spinning into  existence. (more…)

Yesterday Concept art from the forthcoming Green Lantern movie starring Ryan Reynolds was released, featuring one of the lantern universe’s most beloved characters, Kilowog.

Being a Marvel kid I was never into the DC universe (besides Batman), until the Green Lantern Blackest Night series came out a couple of months ago.I never gave the Lantern series a second thought and honestly wondered why any one would read it. Now I wonder why Lantern isnt the most popular series out there. But as I know few people have a grasp on the Lantern  like they do with Spider man or Batman so I’ll Give you a little background.
