A few months back, I posted a rave review of the X-box Live game Zombie Apocalypse and now STEAM has released their answer to Z.A with Nation Red. Nation Red is an ultra fast infinite play arena-based shooter providing an exceptional close-quarter battlefield experience. Fight thousands of zombie mutants and their bosses in frantic bloody gameplay while earning over 70 perks. From the looks of it Nation Red looks like an epic combination of Left 4 Dead gameplay in a Zombie apocalypse format.

Scattered groups of zombies infiltrate remote Midwestern towns. Incapable of using tools or weapons, the invaders are resisted until they retreat back into the desert. Special elimination posses are set up to hunt down any of the surviving undead. Six weeks after the squads started their search-and-destroy mission, the last known zombie was shot and killed.

Present-day
Over thirty years had passed when a truck driver traveling down a desolate Arizona road plows into a wall of undead. Before the driver’s phone signal went dead, he reported some were carrying guns… They’re back and now they are hunting us. Continue reading for the Video Preview.

So the longer I have my X-Box it seems I prefer the growing collection of X-Box arcade games available for direct download to the more traditionally purchased games. It could be my lengthy history with video games stretching all the way back to the Atari, but there is just something about simple games whose only purpose is to collect points that entertains me to no end.  Combine that with my love of the Undead (not vampires) and you get the greatest X-box arcade title ever created ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE. Zombies…..Who Doesn’t like zombies? From Twilight creations comes a board game for the avid zombie fan, aptly named ZOMBIES!!! (Seriously how many times can I say zombies in two sentences). The premise is pretty much the same as all things zombie; you play a survivor trying to escape the zombie infested city by escaping to the helicopter. Not only do you move your own piece but every turn you move the zombie horde incrementally closer to your opponents. This board game is pretty innovative as in addition to moving your pieces you build the game board turn by turn as you go. Because of the movable game board every game is different, but there are also add on packs to create new locations that add new rules and strategies.

SideNote: The game takes a lot from the evil dead series! Inside jokes and board set up reek of Raimi so be on the look out…..as if the cover of the game didn’t give that away?)

Often I wonder….If you were to explain to a zombie the exact process by which he was created, would he cease to be a ghoul? Also would this apply to overly liberal undereducated entitled youths, who think they know what’s going on just because Sean Penn tells them so? Probably not, as denial and lack of logic seems to plague an entire generation of young Americans. Don’t get me wrong the same can be said of Super conservatives, but let’s be honest, they may be religious crazies, but at least they have a logical stance on personal responsibility.

It’s not often that I will advertise for someone free of charge, but this book is a must read for Liberals, Conservatives, Libertarians, and Marketing executives alike. And Hey Simon and Schuster…How bout a few free copies ….you know….for the effort!

Book Synopsis:

In 2008, Barack Obama lobotomized a generation. For an entire year, otherwise clear-thinking members of the most affluent, over-educated, information-drenched generation in American history fell prey to the most expensive, hi-tech, laser-focused marketing assault in presidential campaign history. Twitter messages were machine-gunned to cell phones at mach speed. (more…)

Dead Rising 2!

Its Zombie time again folks! Here is the first game play footage of the sequel to the awesome hack and slash zombie game for the Xbox 360; Dead Rising. Dead Rising 2 takes place in Fortune City (obviously a rip off of Las Vegas) with a new main character Chuck Green. DR2 also includes some new features such as weapon combining and as well as up to 10000 zombies on screen at one time.

The story line follows a somewhat Running Man-esque plot line that pits contestants against each other in an arena full of zombies to rack up a higher kill count. Its a few years after the events of the original and zombies have taken over quite a bit of real estate, so I can only assume that one such arena would be Fortune City. There is no release date posted yet, but continue on to see the footage!

The Crazies is a remake of the 1973 George A. Romero movie of the same name. A story about a Biological weapon released upon a small town that results in brutal insanity. A small town man, his wife and a few friends do their best to survive as the inhabitants of the town rapidly become inhuman monsters. The military complicates things and begin shooting people on site to contain the virus until the town can be firebombed out of existence. Sort of like, The Happening meets Outbreak meets 28 days later.

Just a note for all those youngsters out there who thought Danny Boyle re-imagined zombies with the 28 days later formula, your wrong. (more…)
