So the New York Post published an article today entitled “Singer Lana Del Rey postpones tour after infamous flop on ‘Saturday Night Live’” ….Ok..This is the first time I’ve heard of this “Infamous Flop” . The Article goes on to say

“Singer Lana Del Rey postponed her tour in the wake of her disastrous “Saturday Night Live” appearance last month, sources said.”

Disastrous!!  How have I not even heard of this? So I went online and found both performances for this “Infamous Night”….Uhhh OK? Not seeing disastrous, Infamous, or even bad….Its a little boring but nothing of note…AT ALL! Her performance seemed very fitting to the style of music. Florence and the machine is a friggen weirdo hipster wreck and I didnt hear two words about their performance. So my real question is; Is the media flat out making up shit up now or is this …rather normal performance being blamed to hide some other reason? Anyhoo I don’t really care about Lana DelRay either way, I just am irritated that the news either made up or perpetuated fake infamy. Fake outrage and shock are getting out of control in this country! have a look at the performance below…prepare to be slightly bored…but certainly not shocked or surprised. (more…)

Skrillex:Bangarang

Skrillex is back with a new album of 7 tracks that sonically alines itself more with the surprise breakout “Reptiles Theme” than with his previous release of Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites. For those of you who didn’t like the more trancy Oakenfeld sound of Sprites you will greatly enjoy Bangarang. With Exception of Summit and Right on Time the remaining 5 songs burst with extreme bass ,8 bit Nintendo/Sega sounding melodic themes and what can be described as invading alien robot vocalizations.

Bangarang is almost a perfect electronic album, that can be played for anything from  grueling workouts to an intense gears of war match. Personally I would recommend it for the workout because you definitely don’t want to sit still while this album is playing. The only exceptions on the album come in the previously mentioned Right on Time which I found to be somewhat repetitive and uninteresting and Summit which while still good is definitely a more radio friendly typical trance track. If you are planning on surviving an Apocalypse of Idiots, Zombies or anything else, you may already know that the first rule of survival is Cardio. Thanks Columbus! Whether or not said Apocalypses are coming any time soon is another story. But a little cardio training is good for everyone, especially if you decide you want to run the Tough Mudder next year with Team Skubu.  Though, if you’re anything like me, running is not your first choice when it comes to exercise. I generally prefer swimming or biking, but as age is catching up with me, I want to stay ahead of the game and keep my exercise varied. On top of it being a great workout, running is free and very accessible as it doesn’t require a trip to the gym.

So how does a non-runner get started on a running program? Fartlek.  No, I am not talking about whoever smelt it dealt it.  But if you are interested in learning more,  read on to find out… (more…)

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (Nine Inch Nails, How to Destroy Angels ) won The Oscar for best soundtrack for the film Social Network.  Well, they’re back at it again with David Fincher and his version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.  It is scheduled to be released in December 2011 and features the talents of Daniel Craig, Cristopher Plummer and Robin Wright.  The new movie trailer features a pumped up electro cover of Led Zeppelin’s Immigrant Song with Karen O (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Where the Wild Things Are soundtrack) on vocals.  Kick ass.  I was already excited for this movie.  Throw some more gas on the fire. To Check It out… (more…)

I was amazed by the progress of robotics in America this morning when I turned on the TV and heard one of the many popular songs by the “artist” known as
Ke-dollar-sign-ha….strange name, but I guess no stranger than C3P0.  Anyway my mind was completely blown, as for the first time I was hearing an entirely synthesized human voice produced by what was clearly a Japanese sex droid.

How had robotics come this far? I mean don’t get me wrong the vocals were by no means good, but they were passable for a 3rd grade talent show and had a surprisingly melodic range for a synthetic vocalization. With a little more tuning I think the Ke$ha’s vocal modulator could sound almost 80% as accurate as the big blue squid lady from The Fifth Element (yes I know the characters name is Plava Laguna, but I assumed that you are not as big of a dork as I am.)

My only issue with Ke$3pO is that they haven’t managed to deactivate her drunken party slut simulator from her earlier days of  kicking elderly Japanese men in the nuts for 200 yen a pop. It really has nothing to do with the image she’s portraying for little  girls, but if you’re going to be trashy and slutty at least do it well. Look at Porn stars, they’re what I like to call Class Trashy (well most of the good ones). Ke$h-800′s emulator unfortunately only simulates the Hanger; You know the overly drunk chick willing to sleep with anything for another shot of vanilla Stoli, and is desperately hanging on to her annoyed last option trying to close the deal before the bar closes? I was recently introduced to the Music of Skrillex (as many others were) through the new Mortal Kombat commercial with his track “Reptiles theme”. Reptiles Theme is a b0mbastic tornado of drum beats, severely low base and video game sound effects, and is thoroughly addictive to listen to.  Thanks to the magic of the Shazam app on my phone and a quick rewind of the commercial on my DVR I picked up ‘Reptiles Theme’ as well as his first Professional LP “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” which was released in October of last year. In addition Skrillex is also featured on Korn’s new single ‘Get up’.

The Mass conglomeration of all media from Music & Movies to Video Games in our youth culture is very apparent in Skrillex’s [born in1988] debut. Imagine if DeadMau5 and Liam Howlett [of Prodigy] brutally raped a Sega Genesis, who gave birth to an unwanted bastard child that was adopted and raised by Paul Oakenfold; this would give you a small idea of Skrillex’s sound.
