Thats right folks. In a Halloween Miracle for Star Wars Fan boys everywhere, George Lucas has finally given up the rights to the Live Action Star Wars Franchise while subsequently announcing Star Wars Episode 7 for release in 2015.

Lucas said about the sale

“For the past 35 years, one of my greatest pleasures has been to see Star Wars passed from one generation to the next,” said George Lucas, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lucasfilm. “It’s now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers. I’ve always believed thatStar Wars could live beyond me, and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime. I’m confident that with Lucasfilm under the leadership of Kathleen Kennedy, and having a new home within the Disney organization, Star Wars will certainly live on and flourish for many generations to come. Disney’s reach and experience give Lucasfilm the opportunity to blaze new trails in film, television, interactive media, theme parks, live entertainment, and consumer products.

ITS ABOUT DAMN TIME!!!!…Hopefully we can get some decent sequels to the originals without Lucas constantly Fucking with them.

I think the Expanded Universe of Star Wars is going to get mostly lost/dropped once Ep.7 comes out. That’s to bad, because as most fans agree, the Thrawn trilogy was the best story to continue the saga after Ep.6 If they, Disney, take the best parts of the Thrawn story and mix it with the Jedi Search story and toss in some parts from The Clone Wars cartoon then you have the perfect combo to finish Star Wars. Think about it, the last of The Empire lead by Thrawn using cloned troops and stolen war ships to try and take back what they lost, drop the cloned Dark Jedi parts and throw in Luke searching for young people strong in The Force to start a new Jedi Order, see the cartoon series of The Clone Wars where a group of younglings have to find their crystals to make their sabers and pull together to save their captured Jedi Guide, but one could be temped to the dark side and Luke must turn him back, maybe the ghost of The Emperor could haunt Luke’s students ?
No matter what happens, I’m betting on these things… Luke will lead a team of young Jedi, the mane characters from Ep. 4,5,6 will play small parts only, R2,3PO,Chewie might be seen more but Han ( retired from active duty from The Republic and away doing “other things” ) only shows up near the end of Ep.9 to make a big save. Leia does a couple of Republic Leader shots and a short family reunion (Brother/Sister moment) Lando ( running some new business on some world ) only helps Luke once then goes to “find” Solo and try to “talk” Han into returning. The new trilogy will be mostly about the young Jedi and a new villain they have to defeat. Luke might even die in Ep.8 but come back as a ghost for Ep.9 ?
